  • Hands-on labs in your browser on free platforms (PortSwigger Web Security Academy, TryHackMe), nothing scary to install.

No account. No cost. No catch. The whole course is readable on any device, and it's been audited against WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility.

What "beta" means​

The content is complete and fact-checked, but a course this size will still have rough edges: a link that dies, a fact that ages, an explanation that doesn't land. When you find one, tell us. Reports go straight to the maintainers, and you don't need an account. Every report genuinely shapes the course for the next person.

What's next​

A community space for study partners and Q&A, more Cyber Today briefings (post-quantum cryptography, critical infrastructure and the SOCI Act, Australian privacy reform), and interactive quizzes are all on the roadmap. Announcements will land right here.

The full course is live: fourteen modules taking you from complete beginner (Module 0: Orientation) through to job-ready (Module 13: Career launch), with the whole journey mapped out in the curriculum.

Why this exists​

Australia has a sustained cyber skills shortage, but the on-ramps are expensive and fragmented. This project aims to be a genuinely free path from complete beginner to SOC / GRC entry-role readiness and CompTIA Security+ preparedness, grounded in Australian frameworks (the ASD Essential Eight, the ISM) and real pathways (Free TAFE, mentoring networks).

What makes it different​

  • Free means free: no paywall, no account, no upsell. The whole course is readable on any device, on any connection.
  • You practise in your browser: hands-on labs run on free platforms that host the environment for you, so there's nothing scary to install.
  • We respect the people who taught us: lessons are written in plain English, adapt only openly licensed material (always credited), and link you to the best free resources rather than copying them.
