Staying current
Cyber security knowledge has a shelf life. The good news: staying current takes 15 minutes a day, not a subscription, and in interviews it's a differentiator most candidates skip. This page is deliberately Australian-first: these are the sources your future colleagues and interviewers actually read.

3. On the commute
- Risky Business, risky.biz, the long-running Australian security news podcast; weekly, sharp, and widely listened-to in the industry. If you adopt one habit from this page, make it this one.
4. For the AI-and-security thread specifically
The two reference projects from the AI briefings, for when you want the primary source:
- OWASP GenAI Security Project, genai.owasp.org

5. The 15-minute daily habit
- Scan the News page or ACSC alerts (3 min). Anything new affecting Australia?
- Read one article properly (7 min). Not the headline, the article. Ask the M8 questions: who was hit, how did they get in, what control failed?
- Log one line (2 min). Keep a running note: date, incident, the lesson. Three months of this is interview gold ("what have you been reading?" answered with receipts).
- Weekly: one Risky Business episode; yearly: the ASD Annual Cyber Threat Report executive summary the week it lands.
Global sources are plentiful, but Australian employers hire people fluent in the Australian picture: ASD alerts, OAIC breach trends, local incidents and local law. Master the local sources first; add global ones (vendor research blogs, international outlets) once the habit sticks.
