Terms & disclaimer

Last updated: 12 July 2026. Cyber Career Launchpad is an unincorporated, volunteer-run community project; these terms will be updated if a formal entity is established.

This is a free educational website. By using it you accept the terms below. They're written in plain English on purpose.

1. What this is, and isn't​

This site provides general cyber security education for people exploring a career change. It is not:

  • professional, legal, or financial advice: for a real security decision, engage a qualified professional;
  • careers, migration, or clearance advice: pathways, eligibility, and programs change; always confirm with the official source (we link them);
  • a guarantee of any outcome: completing this course does not guarantee a job, an interview, or a passing exam result.

2. Educational and ethical use only​

The security concepts here are taught for defensive, authorised, and educational purposes. You must only practise techniques on systems you own or have explicit written permission to test, or on platforms expressly built for practice (e.g. PortSwigger Web Security Academy, TryHackMe, a locally-run OWASP Juice Shop).

Unauthorised access to, or modification of, computer systems is a criminal offence in Australia (Criminal Code Act 1995 (Cth), Part 10.7) and elsewhere. You are solely responsible for how you use what you learn.

3. Accuracy and currency​

We work hard to be accurate and to cite primary sources, but cyber security moves fast and content can age. Material is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. Always confirm time-sensitive details (funding programs, qualification codes, exam pricing, framework versions) against the linked official source. Found an error? Please report it.

We link to third-party resources (government agencies, training platforms, news outlets, community organisations). We don't control them and aren't responsible for their content, availability, or practices. Naming or linking an organisation does not imply it endorses, or is affiliated with, this course, and we don't imply their endorsement of us.

5. Using our work​

This course is free to read and study, but it is not free to reuse. The course content and the site code are © Cyber Career Launchpad contributors, all rights reserved: please don't copy, adapt, republish, or redistribute them without our written permission.

  • One exception: Module 9 (Web & application security) adapts OWASP material and is licensed CC BY-SA 4.0; you may reuse that module under those terms. It says so on the page.
  • Third-party material we adapt keeps its own attribution: see the Attributions page.

6. Privacy​

We keep data collection to a minimum: no accounts and no tracking cookies; usage is measured only with privacy-preserving, server-side visit analytics (no browser scripts, no cross-site tracking). Two exceptions you opt into: the optional forms (report / partnerships), and the optional AI tutor, whose messages are sent to our AI provider to generate a reply (we don't keep them). 7. Liability​

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the project and its contributors are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of this site or reliance on its content. Nothing here excludes rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded.

These terms are governed by the laws of Australia.
